12. Underwater Tactics

Water polo is one of the hardest sports I’ve ever played.

It’s like playing basketball while treading water.

My overall experience was quite positive and most players stuck to the rules. But there were a handful whose underwater tactics made it hard to stay afloat.

I quickly learned to avoid these players.

In business, as in life, there are those whose underwater tactics are less than ideal. Decide early on what your company’s values are and stick to them.

Be crystal clear before the gray area comes. “Well, this could be a business expense…”

Afterall, values shape the company, culture, and future you create.

The teams I partner with build values into processes, ops, culture, and more – from hiring and selecting vendors to performance reviews and team meetings.

Recently, one team even created interactive videos and infused the power of storytelling to bring their values to life.

So, what does it look like for your business?

  • Have you clearly articulated values for your business?

  • How is your team living these values in action?

  • What is one thing you can do today to drive greater clarity?

I help small technology and professional services businesses scale and grow. This means leaders work ON the business instead of IN the business. Whether it's a 10-year vision, 3-year strategy, or 90-day action plan - we partner to achieve your goals.

If you want to break through to the next level in your business, drop me a message, and we'll arrange a call to see if I can help.

To your success,

~Susan
