45. A Blue Uniform in a Sea of Gray

1. BLUF

  • Culture eats strategy for breakfast.

  • Whether you’re a solopreneur or leading a team -- you have a culture.

  • What kind of culture do you want to create?

2. ZOOOOOOOMIE….

“ZOOOOOMMMMIEEEE….”

I still remember heckles from West Point cadets as I walked to class on the first day.

As an exchange cadet from the Air Force Academy to West Point, I wore a blue uniform in a sea of gray.

Thankfully, most of the heckles were good natured.

But, I quickly learned how different the cultures of both Service Academies are.

Two institutions developing tomorrow’s military leaders.

In two very different ways.

Each with its strengths.

Each with its challenges.

3. Culture eats strategy for breakfast

You’ve heard it said before....

Culture eats strategy for breakfast.

Whether you’re a solopreneur or leading a team…

You are creating a culture.

Do you…

  • Answer emails at midnight? On Sunday?

  • Listen to clients & actually implement changes?

  • Share open & honest feedback?

You started this business for a reason.

So why not be intentional about the culture you create?

4. Application

So, what does it look like for you?

  • What culture do you want to create?

  • How will it inform your 2024 priorities?

  • What is one thing you can do today to drive greater clarity?

To your strategic success.
