2. Outer Banks Bliss

I recently kayaked in North Carolina. Our party rented boats for two hours to explore nearby Shark Tooth Island.

Two shark teeth later, (womp womp) we paddled against the current and across a channel with furiously fast jet skis, pontoon boats, & more to get back in time.

Upon arrival at the dock, no staff met us like they had for previous customers to assist with getting out of the water or heaving the tandem kayaks onto the deck.

In fact, they left for the day.

Three hours early…

One member of our party had small children. He held both kayaks still while getting pummeled with waves, lifted one small child out of the water at a time, and finagled each kayak onto the dock.

It was frustrating, but it was also dangerous.

We’d had such a fun trip…

And it fell apart in the last 5 minutes.

There’s no way we’d recommend this company.

99% awesome. 1% abysmal.

Bye bye referral.

Thankfully, the rest of the trip made for Outer Banks bliss.

In business, as in life, you have to follow through to build trust.

  • It’s saying what you’ll do and doing what you say.

  • It’s creating a valuable customer experience from start to finish – more than just landing a sale.

  • And it’s showing up each day with integrity.
